Description of the association
NDGSA is proudly celebrating its 31st anniversary! A not-for-profit volunteer association serving soccer players in NDG/Cote-des-neiges and neighbouring areas with no competitive (intercity) soccer teams of their own, NDGSA is affiliated with the CONCORDIA Regional Soccer Association which serves central and eastern Montreal from Pointe-aux-Trembles to NDG with the exception of Westmount, Town of Mount-Royal/Outremont and Ville St-Laurent. The CONCORDIA Regional Soccer Association is affiliated with the Fédération de Soccer du Québec (FSQ), which is affiliated with the Canadian Soccer Federation, which is affiliated with FIFA.
Unlike local hockey clubs, our club is open to players from other boroughs, except those who have already played at a competitive (intercity) level with another club. But even then, players who absolutely want to play with our club can still request a transfer from their old club to NDGSA if they wish.
Our summer program already offers the opportunity to play soccer – at the local-competitive (house league) or competitive (intercity) level – to over 2000 players from 5 to 65 years old and any new player is more than welcomed.
The competitive league (intercity) (from 8 to 18+) is made up of A and AA boys’ and girls’ teams that play against other teams in the CONCORDIA region.
After try-outs and selection by the coaches, the teams are formed in March. The season begins in mid-May and runs until mid-September, except for AA teams that qualify for the provincial championships.
The CONCORDIA RSA manages an elite AAA club for players 14 and over. These teams participate in a province-wide championship against teams from other regional sports associations.
The local-competitive league (from 5 to 21) is made up of mixed teams for the 5- and 6-year-olds and separate boys’ and girls’ teams for players 7 and up. This year we are hoping to have separate boys and girls teams for the 5 and 6 year olds. The younger teams play exclusively in the borough, and the older teams also play occasional matches in neighbouring boroughs, in order to maintain a good level of competition.
At each age group in the junior level, an all-star team is created to represent the locale-competitive league (house league) at a few tournaments throughout the summer.
After player distribution based on evaluations from the previous year (in order to balance the teams as evenly as possible) and random selection of new players, the teams are formed in May and the season begins in the first week of June, running until late August or mid-September.
Our winter program offers indoor training from November through the end of March. There is also an indoor championship for certain competitive age groups, organized by the CONCORDIA RSA.
All registrations are carried out in person because a passport must be filled out and prepared for every player. The passport, authenticated by a photo of the player, the player’s provincial health care card # and a proof of residence (utility bill or other official document), allows the Fédération de Soccer du Québec to offer all our players accident insurance: no passport, no insurance, no games.
We also want to point out that we are a volunteer association and that our activities are the responsibility of all our members:
· With no volunteers, there can be no program.
· With too few volunteers, our programs are incomplete, and there are no answers to your questions and no solutions to your problems.
So please join in and support our young players by giving a few hours of your time this year!
